FAITH FORMATION MISSION STATEMENT

My Promise for my Children

The Religious Education Program of Our Lady of Grace Parish is attentive to the spiritual formation of all members of the parish faith community.  At every level, we focus on catechesis, fellowship, service and prayer.  As a parish we welcome the people of God; we fulfill our baptismal promise to teach about God in the Catholic tradition; we encourage our community to live the Gospel in service to one another; and we celebrate together in prayer and sacrament.

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church believes that a lifelong faith formation is essential to grow in love and service of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We welcome and encourage all families; children, teens and adults to grow in knowledge of Jesus and the holy, Catholic Church by participating in a wide variety of programs designed to deepen our faith and spirituality.

With lives centered on the Mass and sacraments, we find unity when we recognize Christ alive in the hearts and minds of all who are called to witness the Gospel.

GOAL OF OUR FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM

Our goal is to provide an opportunity for nurturing and forming our parishioners of all ages, in the teachings of Christ our Lord, through the study of Scripture, the Catholic Catechism, traditions of the church and specially selected programs designed for religious education of our young people.

Catechesis (Religious Education) is the process of communicating the beliefs, values, and practices, which contribute to the formation of Catholic Christians.  It is the passing on from one generation to the next, the faith that has come down to us from the apostles and the way of life to which that faith call us.

The aim of the Religious Education Program at Our Lady of Grace is:

  • To teach students Catholic beliefs and how to live as a Catholic Christian.

  • To involve students in the life of the parish in worship, service and community.

  • To assist parents/guardians in imparting the life giving Catholic faith to their children.

  • To encourage parents/guardians to continue their Catechesis and faith development through involvement in the life of the parish.

  • To encourage all adults to continue their on-going catechesis and faith development as members of the parish community.
